Fresh Air | Sun | Connection
Spending time outdoors is a part of my personal life and wellness practice. I enjoy recreating and being outside during all of the seasons biking, swimming, hiking, skiing, climbing, strolling, watching clouds, etc. Time spent in nature has been linked to improvements in overall health and well-being. Being outdoors has the potential of improving mood, reducing stress and negative emotions, and increasing calmness and joy. It does not take much time spent in nature for the body to begin feeling the benefits of fresh air and sunlight.
I encourage my clients to include time outside as part of their treatment plans. Sometimes though, spending time outdoors can feel intimidating, especially if it has not been a part of a person’s routine or life. This is where outdoor sessions have the potential of supporting individuals in accessing nature and developing confidence while being outside.
These sessions may be held at local parks, nature trails, and outdoor spaces. They are individually planned and set up based upon each person’s comfort level and ability. They can be as simple as an outdoor session on a bench, a walk, a session under a tree on a blanket, or even an easy hike. Reach out to Eileen if you are interested in learning more about outdoor therapy sessions.
